A very long night...

Do babies sleep at night?

Baby and Mommy are just getting up now... at 2pm. Poor Daddy has been at work for hours. Yeah, last night was a rough one. Adam and I both took our turns until around 2am. Little Eva did not want to sleep or even just be quietly rocked. She wanted to cry and eat, cry and eat, cry and eat. I hear they eventually grow out of that pattern... but I wonder sometimes if we're gonna make it until then!

  1. You'll make it....even though in the midst of the exhaustion and frustration (because you can't "fix it") it seems as if it will never come....praying for you ALL!!!!

  3. I don't know you well, and you don't know me well, but one thing we do have in common is a baby that screamed constantly and inconsolably. My daughter had colic that nothing could help (diet change, medicine, etc.) It stinks, but the bottom line is that your little baby is still learning to acclimate to her new environment. Be encouraged, my daughter is 3 months now and she is sleeping 9 hours at a time. As trite as it may sound to you right now--this WILL get better, you ARE a great mom, and you AREN'T doing anything wrong. PLEASE call me if you ever need an hour during the day to get out--I would be more than happy to watch her (704)857-7153. Also, the book Babywise has lots of practical suggestions and guidelines that can be helpful in developing a sleep schedule for your baby. You're doing a great job--she looks healthy and beautiful!!!

  4. Maybe you could try swaddling her ;) No seriously though, Audrey LOVES it, not sure if you've tried it or not. She might have had gas or something, A has that problem sometimes. Not trying help you find the cure all, just a couple suggestions. You're doing great! Oh I tried to track you down on Sunday, I just saw you from a far off distance, looking forward to seeing her soon! Is she getting dedicated this coming Sunday?

  5. It sounds you are doing a wonderful job caring for her and responding to her nightime needs. I'll send up a prayer for encouragement and sleep! Don't feel like you are doing anything wrong or that you need to "fix" things (unless you suspect something medical like reflux disease). God will bless your sacrifices as your nurture sweet Eva!
